Summary: Lock It Up is local-first and has no Widget Corner account, advertising, or cross-app tracking. Rules and games in progress stay on your device. Confirmed completed-game history can sync between devices on the same platform through the user’s private CloudKit database or Google Play Games. Widget Corner does not operate a separate sync backend.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Lock It Up mobile app (“the app”) for iPhone and Android, published by Widget Corner LLC (“Widget Corner,” “we,” “us”). It does not replace the privacy policies or account terms of Apple, Google, or other services you choose to open from the app.
Information stored locally
Lock It Up stores the information needed to score and resume games on your device, including:
- Player names or nicknames entered by the device user.
- House-rule choices, seating, dealer position, bids, books, round scores, and app preferences.
- Active and paused games and completed-game history, from which team records and nil statistics are calculated.
- Generated game identifiers and, on iPhone, non-personal reset-marker identifiers used to keep deleted statistics from returning from a stale device.
Active and paused games stay local to the device. On iPhone, device backups may include local app data according to the backup settings controlled by the device owner. On Android, Lock It Up disables backup and device-to-device transfer for its local game snapshot.
Same-platform completed-game sync
A newly completed result remains local until the player chooses Rematch or New Game. It then becomes eligible for same-platform sync. A synced completion record can include player names, team pairings, final scores, the winner, Boston status, nil outcomes, round count, completion time, and generated game identifiers.
iPhones use the user’s private CloudKit database. Sync runs automatically when iCloud access is available. These records are associated with the user’s Apple Account, count against that user’s iCloud storage, and are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. Widget Corner does not operate a separate Apple sync account or server. You can stop this sync by turning off iCloud access for Lock It Up in the device’s iCloud settings; local scoring continues to work.
Android devices use Google Play Games Services Saved Games. The Play Games SDK initializes when Lock It Up launches and checks the player’s authentication state; an authenticated player’s confirmed records can sync automatically. Google Play Games may process gamer identity, analytics, and diagnostics even when no completed-game record is uploaded, as described in Google’s Play Games Services data disclosure and Privacy Policy. Widget Corner does not operate a separate Android sync account or server.
iPhone history does not sync with Android history, and Android history does not sync with iPhone.
How information is used
The app and platform services use this information to save game state, calculate scores and statistics, synchronize confirmed completed-game history on the same platform, and maintain the reliability and security of platform services.
Advertising, sale, and tracking
Widget Corner does not include ads or first-party analytics in Lock It Up, does not sell game information, and does not use it for marketing profiles or cross-app tracking. The Google Play Games SDK performs the platform initialization, authentication checks, sync, analytics, and diagnostics processing described above on Android.
Exporting and deleting iPhone data
Open Stats and choose Export completed games to create a shareable JSON copy of completed-game information.
Choose Delete completed stats to remove completed-game history and derived statistics from that iPhone and the user’s private CloudKit database. Active and paused games are preserved. The app retains non-personal reset-marker identifiers so an older device cannot restore games from before the deletion. If the phone is offline, the local deletion takes effect immediately and the CloudKit deletion retries when service returns.
Uninstalling the app removes its local data, subject to device and backup behavior. Synced CloudKit records can remain unless completed stats are deleted from inside the app first.
Deleting Android data
Clearing Lock It Up’s app storage or uninstalling it removes local data on that Android device, subject to device and backup behavior. This also removes local rules and games in progress.
To durably remove synced Android history, first close Lock It Up, then clear its app storage or uninstall it on every Android device that still has local Lock It Up history. Do not reopen the app on those devices. After those local copies are removed, delete Lock It Up’s per-game data from the Google Play Games profile. Reopening a device that still retains local completed-game history can recreate the Saved Games cloud copy during synchronization.
Security and retention
Lock It Up uses private app storage and the platform-provided iCloud and Google Play Games services. Synced data remains under the user’s platform account until it is deleted as described above or removed under the platform’s account settings and terms. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children’s privacy
Lock It Up is a general-audience scorekeeping utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not ask for a user’s age or create a Widget Corner account. A player name entered by the device user may be synced as described above. A parent or guardian can remove that information using the applicable deletion steps or contact us for help.
Third-party links
The app may contain links to external resources. When you follow such a link, you are subject to that service’s own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the practices of third-party services.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or its platform services change. We will post the revised policy at this address, update the effective date above, and describe material changes in release notes when appropriate.
